Announcement

As outlined in the review of the Queensland Family History Society Strategic Plan conducted in early 2023, a decision was made to transition our website to a new platform.

This was required because the upgrade path for our existing website faces many hurdles.

The first steps are to transition membership management, our shop and surname interests. These are now all available on this new site.

This new website will be used in conjunction with the existing website until all content is moved across. As this work is being done by volunteers we are unable to provide you with an end date for this work. Meanwhile, we hope you bear with us while our volunteers work behind the scenes to get our new website fully developed.

We shall keep you updated with progress via our newsletter and on this site.

Member Resources

QFHS searchable datasets is a work-in-progress. It includes several indexes which have not been published before as well as many that have been previously released to subscription services. The data presented here is searchable using techniques developed for our CD products including wildcards, diacritics, and global searches.

This enables researchers to zoom in on nuanced data such as variant surname spelling.

Events

QFHS provides or participates in many activities to further family history knowledge and skills. These activities include members meetings, special interest group meetings, seminars, and open days. We are committed to educating members on ethical principles and effective techniques of genealogical research. Our Society also participates in events organised by other organisations.

Publications

The QFHS journal Queensland Family Historian is published quarterly and distributed to all financial members of the Society. In our journal, you will find articles, news, and other items of interest.  We welcome submissions for inclusion in the journal. 

Snippets is the electronic newsletter of the Society, distributed monthly. It provides information on events, new websites, and items of interest. Snippets is sent to all QFHS members.
