This CD provides a consolidated index to all Notices in the Queensland Government Gazette 1859-1919, apart from those which are part of other QFHS indexes - in particular, notices relating to Intestacy, Insolvency and Wills and Members of School Committees which are on another CD. The entries cover approximately 125,000 notices, with direct searching on name, topic, location and year with QFHSdatasearch. The Government Gazette contains a wealth of information on a wide range of topics. However finding information on particular individuals can be a daunting task. Each volume has an index to its Notices, but no consolidated index has been available to make the information more accessible to researchers. This CD not only provides this, but also makes accessing and organising the information much easier by combining it with the searching and sorting capabilities of QFHSdatasearch.
The index entries cover name, title, topic, location, volume, year and page(s) relating to the entry. The actual Notice in the Gazette will provide additional information, the exact nature of which will depend on the topic. The actual entries give the full names of the persons referred to and many of the Trade Mark and Patent Notices refer to people residing in the other Australian colonies and overseas.
QFHSdatasearch, developed by the Queensland Family History Society, is a generic interface designed to search genealogy databases. This version features field oriented and keyword searches, Boolean selection, sorting and wildcard searches.
System Requirements: PC with Windows operating system (Win95 or later), CD drive and 20 Mb of free disk space to install QFHSdatasearch.
