1913 Commonwealth Electoral Roll (Queensland)

This CD indexes the details from the Commonwealth Electoral Roll for all electors registered in Queensland in 1913 for which records survive. The entries for over 360,000 electors cover name, sex, place of living, occupation, roll number, polling place and division. The index allows direct searching on name, year and the other details with QFHSdatasearch.

The material on this CD is an excellent starting point for researching families living in Queensland at the time. It covers all electors recorded in the rolls held in the National Archives of Australia and lists all the information recorded in the roll. Combining the range of information with the search specifications and sorting facilities in QFHSdatasearch can be particularly useful for locating family groups, for example by specifying a surname and sorting on place of living within polling place.

The CD includes maps showing the Division boundaries which applied at the time of the 1913 Commonwealth Electoral Roll. These cover all Queensland Divisions (Brisbane, Capricornia, Darling Downs, Herbert, Kennedy, Lilley, Maranoa, Moreton, Oxley and Wide Bay), with a more detailed map for Brisbane and adjacent areas (Brisbane and Oxley Divisions). They are linked to the database and can be opened in Adobe (Acrobat) Reader via the QFHSdatasearch View Details button. Higher resolution versions of the maps are included on the CD in the pdf folder and can be viewed by browsing to them and opening with Adobe (Acrobat) Reader.

QFHSdatasearch, developed by the Queensland Family History Society, is a generic interface designed to search genealogy databases. This version features field oriented and keyword searches, Boolean selection, sorting and wildcard searches.

System Requirements: PC with Windows operating system (Win95 or later), CD drive and 20 Mb of free disk space to install QFHSdatasearch.
