This CD provides an index to the approximately 370,000 entries in the lists of Queensland Railway Employees published in the Queensland Government Gazette from 1889 to 1940, as well as three smaller indexes to other Railway employee information, scanned images of all source pages and scanned images of Railway Regulations and Acts from the period. The indexes can be directly searched on name, year and other details with QFHSdatasearch, which also provides direct links to the source images, viewable with Adobe (Acrobat) Reader. Includes many years not previously published on microfiche. The material on this CD is an excellent resource for researching Queensland railway families and railway history. The main index covers the entire career of many railway employees. It gives the name, age (from 1899), position, branch/office, and railway/division for each person employed in the railway service in Queensland on 30th day of June for the year indicated. The rate of pay and qualifications (where applicable) are also available in the Gazette source images. The other indexes are to the Queensland Railway Appointments and Removals 1890, Dismissals 1879 for Ipswich and Rockhampton Railway Workshops, and the Classification List for Loco Enginemen, Firemen and Cleaners 1912. Images of Railway Regulations and Acts published in the Gazette during the period and included on the CD add to the picture of the employees' lives.
QFHSdatasearch, developed by the Queensland Family History Society, is a generic interface designed to search genealogy databases. This version features field oriented and keyword searches, Boolean selection, sorting and wildcard searches.
